May the 4th Be With You

So it's that time of year where even if you don't want to think of Star Wars, you kinda do. At least if you go online.

So let's wish each other May the 4th and all that jazz, and talk some Star Wars.

There's the Original Trilogy, the Prequel Trilogy, and the Disney Trilogy. There are also stand alone movies and a TV series.

I've made it no secret that I really have issues with the latter two, but that doesn't mean there isn't potential in all of them, lost or not. I also recognize that I grew up with the Original one, while others with the Prequel one and there will be people that know the Disney one better than the others. Nostalgia is a thing, and it makes us like things and look at them differently.

So what is your favorite, and why? What would you like to see in Star Wars going forward? I hear there will be more movies coming our way but in all honestly I'm yet too afraid to google that and look what they will be.

The originals, then Rogue One, Solo, Caravan of Courage, Battle for Endor and then the Mandalorian.

Current iterations of the franchise belong to a new generation and they can make them what they want. :) It's like any other long-running franchise. It is reinvented with each iteration. Like James Bond or Star Trek, we get ours in our time. We can enjoy the new versions or give them a pass. My Star Wars was the original trilogy. I never got into other versions. My James Bond was Pierce Brosnan. And my Star Trek was TNG (and some DS9). I don't really want anything for Star Wars moving forward because it belongs to someone else now. -- Okay, I do want ONE thing. I want the originals before that remaster disaster. I had them on VHS and laser disc but never a modern format, and I'm salty about it.

The original Star Wars will always be classics that I had the fortune of seeing first thanks to my parents being Star Wars fans. The prequels I will admit that I do enjoy watching, partially as a guilty pleasure and partially because of the potential it had that can still be felt watching it. As for the Disney trilogy, I still do kind of like The Last Jedi because it did what the prequels failed to do which was exploring the force (what always frustrates me about the Star Wars movie franchise beyond the original trlogy is that it doesn't explore the Force enough). The Force Awakens to me is basically just a beta movie for the rest of that trilogy and the Rise of Skywalker is the worst Star Wars movie I've ever seen in my life (though I did dig the whole dyad in the force thing. Because, again, exploring the force. Me like. Me like). That's all I have to say. May the fourth be with you, Tantz, and everybody else here on a website far, far away^^

May the Fourth be with you, Tantz! My favorites are Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Rewatching them reminds me of being in high school when I would go to the theater multiple times to observe the acting between Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman. I liked the romance story and all the memorable lines.

The original trilogy (starting with "Star Wars" not "A New Hope", I said STAR WARS). Empire and Return were just as cool, but those other movies are like bad fanfic, it's a tragedy that many viewers probably watched them first. Happy May 4th y'all. Han shot first!
